IAFD Mission – “To work with our members to achieve excellence in funeral service and represent the funeral sector”.
The association was established in 1979 to promote excellence and expertise in the funeral directing profession and to foster cooperation between its members to enable them to provide a better service to their clients. Its members conduct 75% of funerals in Ireland. The Association is regularly consulted by government agencies, consumer interest groups, the media and the general public on matters relevant to funerals. The IAFD has an established Code of Practice which must be followed by all of it’s members.
In the IAFD Code of Practice there is a commitment to provide full training for staff with a view to improving the quality of service provided.
The maintenance of the highest standards of conduct and professionalism is paramount to the Association. IAFD acts on every complaint received in writing in respect of it’s member Funeral Directors.
Colm Kieran is a member of the IAFD board and is involved in the development of their Education Programme.
